The Festival takes place every two years. Since May 31, 1999 films can be applied to the "2. International Human Right Film Festival" in September 2001.

1. Conditions for participation

The subject of the festival are the human rights. No further preliminaries on content, style or techniques of the films apply.

Admitted to the competition are film productions completed after December 31, 1998 (exceptions could be made by the preview commission). The following formats are accepted: 35mm, l6mm, Betacam-SP, U-matic-low Video.

For processing the application, only VHS copies will be accepted. If the original language of the films is another than English or German, the viewing copy of the film should be subtitled in one of these languages. Otherwise a text list has to be provided with the tape. English subtitled versions of German films are welcome.

For each film, a single application form has to be used (can be copied). The form must be completely filled in and photo stills must be enclosed. The form, all necessary documents and the viewing copy must be received by the lnternational Human Rights Film Festival by May 31, 2001.

 

2. Transport of projection print and insurance

The applicant is responsible for the one-way shipping costs of the projection print to the festival. The festival will take care of the costs for returning the print to the sender. The films and videos are insured by the insurance company of the lnternational Human Rights Film Festival from time of reception by the film festival to the time of its retum to the shipping company. The transport insurance lies on both ways in the responsibility of the print provider. The appropriate laws of the Federal Republic of Germany apply.

Deliveries from abroad must under all circumstances bear the note:

"temporärer Import - nur für kulturelle Zwecke, kein Handelswert/

temporary import - for cultural purpose only, no commercial value"

A pro-forma-invoice for maximum $50 (it must not be higher) has to be enclosed in shippings per courier service from countries not member of the European Union.

 

Please enclose advertising materials like posters and photo stills.

 

3. Miscellaneous & Shipping Address

VHS application tapes will not be returned. They remain in the archive of the film festival.

With the application the rules are accepted.

These materials have to be enclosed with the application:

1. Viewing copy on VHS

2. Completely filled out, signed application form

3. Still photos for catalogue and press

4. Short bio-/filmography of the director
